Catechetical Ministry Coordinator
Brief info
Coordinator of catechetical ministry for the Eparchy of Toronto and Eastern Canada, Natalya Schturyn, was appointed to the position by Bishop Bryan Bayda in 2022. Her journey in ministry is deeply personal. Happily married to Petro, mother of five and grandmother to three, for many years she homeschooled her children, finding, adapting, and creating custom catechetical programs to suit her family's unique needs, a personal devotion which flows directly into her eparchial work. She has helped organize and participated in eparchial catechetical camps for over 10 years, and continues to create and run national leadership training camps for teens across Canada through the Ukrainian Youth Association. A dedicated advocate for marriage and the family, Natalya has also served as a teacher of the Billings Method of Natural Family Planning for 18 years and Theology of the Body presenter in schools and parishes for 15 years. Currently, she assists parish catechists with resources and program planning and represents the Eparchy in catechetical initiatives at a national level. She continues to stay involved with children at the parish level through ongoing First Confession and Solemn Communion preparation.
