Welcome to World Youth Day @ Home – Alberta! Join us for a weekend of spiritual growth, community building, and fun.

Our program includes inspiring talks, engaging workshops, and powerful worship experiences. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with other young people from across Alberta and deepen your relationship with God.

We’ll also have plenty of time for socializing and enjoying the beautiful outdoor setting. Whether you’re a seasoned Catholic or just curious about the faith, you’re welcome to come and be a part of our community.

Meet Our Speakers!

Rev. Jim Corrigan – “So, ‘Mary Arose and Went with Haste… What’s the Big Rush?” (in English)

Fr. Jim was ordained a priest on June 28, 2004. Since then, he’s served at several parishes in Alberta and as chaplain and spiritual advisor for the Cursillo Movement, the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Women’s League, and Couples for Christ. For the last six years, he’s been pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Sherwood Park. His goal is to make OLPH the most welcoming parish in our great Province. Fr. Jim loves being a priest and also describes himself as a relatively avid curler and a relatively mediocre golfer… but he enjoys both.

Sophia Korban – “God asks for consent—Mary’s (and my) free will.” (in English)

Sophia Korban is originally from several places in Saskatchewan. She has a Bachelor of Theology in Eastern Christian Studies and a certificate in Youth Ministry. Her vocation has included serving at The Welcome Home in Winnipeg, Redemptorist Young Adult Ministry, Family and Youth Ministry with the Archdiocese of Ottawa, and most recently directing Ukrainian Park Catholic Children’s Camp. She lives in Rossburn, Manitoba, with her husband, Fr. Jay. She often enjoys raising their three children, drinking coffee, and sitting by a campfire.

Rev. Julian Bilyj – “Full of Grace: The Icons of Mary’s Feasts” (in Ukrainian)

Fr. Julian wears a lot of hats! He is the pastor of St. Nicholas parish, a school chaplain, and a vicar for the Eparchy of Edmonton. By the time WYD@Home begins, however, he’ll be only days away from taking over as rector of Holy Spirit Seminary. Originally from a Ukrainian-speaking village in Bosnia, Fr. Julian came to Canada in the 1990s and was ordained a priest in 2003. He is a husband and the father of two children.

Sofia Larmour – “Praying the Rosary to Get Ready for God’s Call” (in English)

Sofia Larmour is a Saskatoon native and a cradle Ukrainian Catholic. But she’s got plenty of experience of the Church breathing with both lungs, through World Youth Day in Poland, CCO faith studies, university chaplaincy, and more. She graduated from the U of S and currently works in human resources, but that hasn’t slowed her down at all… Sofia is an avid athlete and just ran her first marathon!

Monica Kuc – “Mary… in the Temple, or is the Temple?” (in Ukrainian)

Monica Kuc is a native Edmontonian, raised at St. Josaphat’s Cathedral. She studied theology in Ottawa at the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute, where she also met her husband, Fr. Danylo. Besides being a very active “Dobrodika” at St. George’s Parish in Edmonton, she’s a mother of three and works for the federal government.

Rev. Yosafat Khaimyk, OSBM – Mary as the Model Disciple (in Ukrainian)

Fr. Yosafat was born and raised in western Ukraine. He joined the Basilian order and was ordained a priest in 2007. He has served in different regions of the country, including in the Donbas and in Kyiv during the Maidan “Revolution of Dignity.” He came to Canada several years ago and is currently serving at St. Basil the Great parish in Edmonton. He’s also in charge of Camp St. Basil’s children’s camp, and is involved in several choirs in the Edmonton community.
